Clinical Research Induction Slide Deck

The UKCRF Network Induction Framework is one of our most widely used tools, and we’ve recently launched a refreshed and updated version of the slide deck for use across UK and Ireland CRFs and R&I Departments

Themes

The Induction Framework and supporting slide deck helps Clinical Research Facilities (CRFs) and other research organisations develop a comprehensive induction programme for new starters. It has been developed by the UKCRF Network Education Group and is based on best practice from established CRFs.

The framework recommends a format for induction and is designed so that it can be adapted to meet local needs. It can be used for all potential research roles carried out by staff engaged in the conduct of clinical research. It identifies key areas and themes that should be covered within the first three months of a new employee being in post, all or some of which will be applicable depending on the individual role.

  • Theme 1: Understanding Clinical Research
  • Theme 2: Research Governance and Ethics
  • Theme 3: Informed Consent, Recruitment and Safeguarding of Participants
  • Theme 4: Study Management
  • Theme 5: Resource Management
  • Theme 6: Information Governance, Data Protection and Data Management
  • Theme 7: Quality Control Systems and Quality Assurance in Clinical Research
  • Theme 8: Management of Biological Samples and Laboratory Safety
  • Theme 9: Management of an Investigational Medicinal Product (IMP)
  • Theme 10: Clinical Research Infrastructure
  • Theme 11: UK Clinical Research Facility (UKCRF) Network
  • Theme 12: Patient & Public Involvement in Research (PPIE)

How can the document be accessed?

The Induction Framework and Induction Slide Deck can be downloaded from the UKCRF Network Portal.

Please be aware that your CRF may have already implemented the induction framework and slide deck for local use. We recommend contacting your CRF Education Lead or Line Manager first.
